India plans cheap laptop option

The XO laptop has been used in Uruguayan schools India says it is planning to produce a low cost laptop intended for use by school children and students. The cheap laptop has been developed as part of a broader national plan to update the technology used by Indian colleges and schools. Details are scant, but it is planned to use wireless to connect and have 2GB of memory onboard.

Microsoft sold 28 million Xbox 360s by end of 2008

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp sold 28 million units worldwide of its Xbox 360 video game console through the end of 2008, expanding the Xbox's lead over rival Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 console in worldwide unit sales, the company said on Monday. Xbox 360 product management director Aaron Greenberg said 2008 "was our biggest year ever in Xbox history" despite a sluggish global economy that's battered U.S. retailers this past holiday season.

Bullet resistant bras for German police

German police women are to be issued with bullet-resistant bras to give them complete undercover protection. The new underwear was developed as a second barrier of defence after normal bras were found to cause injuries while on duty. The officers' bullet-proof vests, while stopping the force of gunshots in attack, pushed the plastic and metal parts of their underwear into their flesh, causing injury.
